Emergency Surgery

Heartbreaking Developments

An early morning ultrasound brought devastating news: Flores’ puppies have started to mineralize. This means they have passed away but remain inside her, putting her at extreme risk of infection. Her body has begun naturally trying to expel them, but time is critical.

The priority now is emergency surgery to remove them before a life-threatening infection sets in. The doctors have managed to pull part of them out, and we are so very grateful she is in the best hands possible.

Challenges Ahead

If Flores remains stable throughout surgery, the ophthalmology team will move forward with removing her damaged eye. However, a CT scan isn’t the focus for now—her immediate survival is what matters most.

There’s more heartbreaking news. Flores has tested heartworm positive, which makes anesthesia and surgery even more dangerous. On top of that, the fractures in her hips, shoulder, and back leg are all old injuries. This means she’s been living in pain, struggling to survive, without relief for what could be months.

Despite everything, she’s still fighting.

The Team’s Efforts

The hospital team is working tirelessly to give Flores a chance. We’ve requested more photos to keep a close eye on her, but due to hospital protocols, this hasn’t been a priority. We understand, though her need for thoughts, prayers, and support has never been greater.

Flores Deserves a Better Life

Flores deserves to feel love, freedom from pain, and to have a future where she’s safe and cherished. Right now, she needs all of us.

Her medical care will be extensive and costly, but we refuse to give up on her.
