Welp—started as a big, big day for this little boy. Hit the road early to get to the cardiologist at Iowa State to evaluate his heart defect. About 20 minutes in, we were notified that the appointment was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.

He will now be headed back on November 7th, get an entire evaluation, and plan his intervention for the very next day! So please keep this special little boy in your prayers as he continues on for the next few weeks with a heart that is very inefficient at this time. 💔 🐶

More than anything, we want this little guy to have a chance to feel good, be a puppy, and live happily ever after. 🙏

Good evening, Always & Furever family! This is Beth, and tonight I’m beyond excited to introduce you to a very special guest – Mr. Wrapper! You may remember this sweet boy as one of our beloved tarp puppies, saved in the nick of time after he and his siblings were found wrapped up in a plastic tarp on a scorching 100-degree day. But tonight, Wrapper’s journey takes a new, hopeful turn, and I’m here to share what’s next for him.

Meet Wrapper: The Little Fighter with a Big Heart

Wrapper is just a few weeks old, but his story is one of resilience. When he first arrived at Always & Furever, we discovered that he had a severe heart murmur – a 6 out of 6, which is as serious as it gets. After further examination, we learned that he has pulmonary stenosis, a condition where the valve that allows blood to flow from his heart to his lungs is dangerously narrow and stiff. This means his heart has to work overtime just to pump blood through his little body.

Thankfully, Wrapper is a fighter! Tomorrow, we’re off to Iowa State for a cardiology consult, where we’ll discuss the best course of action to treat his condition. The plan? In an ideal world, Wrapper will undergo a procedure where a balloon is inserted into the narrow valve, gently opening it up so his heart can pump more easily. ✨

What’s Next for Wrapper?

We’re hopeful that after tomorrow’s consultation, we’ll have a clear plan and a date set for his treatment. This little guy is also on a small dose of blood pressure medication to help relax his blood vessels in the meantime, and he’s been such a trooper through it all. Despite his heart working so hard, you’d never know it – he’s the sweetest, snuggliest houseguest you could imagine.

❤️ Why We Can’t Give Up on Wrapper ❤️

Wrapper’s condition is serious, and if left untreated, it could take his life far too soon. But here’s the thing: this is a condition we can fix. We can give him the chance to live a long, happy, and healthy life. That’s why we’re committed to seeing this through – because this little guy deserves a chance. He survived being thrown out like trash, and now we’re determined to help him overcome this heart issue.

However, this comes with a financial burden. The valvuloplasty procedure could cost up to $8,000. It’s a lot of money, but can you really put a price on the chance to save a life? We certainly can’t. We believe that Wrapper’s story isn’t meant to end here, and with your help, we can make sure it doesn’t.

Abandoned and left to die, tiny Wrapper was found with his siblings on the side of the road, struggling to survive. While his brothers and sisters are now safe, Wrapper is facing a battle that none of us could ever prepare for.

Wrapper has a Grade 6 heart murmur caused by Pulmonic Stenosis—a condition that narrows the valve between his heart and lungs. Without immediate surgery, his heart will continue to deteriorate, and the progression will lead to right-sided heart failure, arrhythmias, and further dilation of his heart. Every day without the surgery puts this precious little life at greater risk.

The only thing that can save him is a Balloon Valvuloplasty at MU, where a balloon will be placed to widen his heart valve and relieve the pressure. The total cost, including all his medical appointments, is about $8,000. It’s a steep cost, but without this procedure, Wrapper won’t have a future.

Right now, Wrapper is with a loving, wonderful foster family, who is giving him all the care and attention he deserves. Our goal is to give Wrapper the chance to keep feeling the love, joy, and safety that life has to offer. We want him to know a world filled with kindness, not pain, and to grow up surrounded by the warmth of a family.

A Heartwarming Tale of Rescue & Hope

This weekend, Always & Furever’s Little Red Barn was filled with wagging tails, tiny paws, and so much love as we welcomed the newest members of our rescue family—the Tarp Puppies! These precious babies were found abandoned, wrapped in a tarp, left to fend for themselves. But thanks to our incredible network of volunteers, fosters, and supporters, their story is now one of hope, love, and second chances.

In our Facebook Live, we captured the joyful moment when these resilient pups arrived at our sanctuary. You’ll meet them for the first time, see their wiggly tails and adorable faces, and witness their playful energy as they explore their new world. It’s an emotional rollercoaster—from tears of heartbreak over their past to overwhelming gratitude for the chance to give them the future they deserve.
