Daley’s Journey: Rising Stronger Every Day
It’s been a little while since our last update on sweet Daley, but we’re happy to report that this precious girl has been laying low, focusing on healing and gaining her strength back. Sometimes the best progress happens quietly, and for Daley, that’s exactly what she’s been doing—recuperating in the loving arms of her foster family. ❤️
✨ Her foster mom tells us that Daley has been nothing short of amazing! While her spirit remains just as determined as ever (she’s been trying her best to climb stairs
Daley’s Healing Journey: One Step Closer to Her Best Life! ❤️
We are thrilled to share some amazing news about our sweet Daley! After her right forelimb amputation and ovariectomy, Daley’s incisions have healed beautifully, and today, she bravely had her sutures and staples removed. She’s been such a champ through it all, and we couldn’t be more proud of her resilience and strength.
For the next day or two, Daley may still need to rock her E-collar to make sure she doesn’t get too interested in licking her surgery site. But soon, she’ll be collar-free and ready to start gradually easing back into her normal routine. It’s all part of getting her back to her playful, happy self!
Our brave girl Daley is on the mend and getting stronger every single day! She’s been channeling her inner athlete, trying to run and jump like the superstar she is. With her indomitable spirit, Daley is proving that nothing can hold her back, not even her recent front leg amputation!
Daley is on the road to recovery and thriving in a loving foster home! This sweet girl has shown us just how resilient she can be. After enduring the unimaginable—being hit by a car and left to die—Daley was brought into a high-kill shelter with a shattered leg. To save her life, her leg had to be amputated all the way to her shoulder.
This is sweet Daley. She was hit by a car and my friend Jen Dulski at Always & Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary has her in A&F’s care. They had to amputate her leg all the way up to her shoulder. She is doing great! Surgery was a success!
Sweet Daley was hit by a car and left to die, brought into a high-kill shelter with a shattered leg. To save her life, her leg had to be removed all the way to her shoulder. Despite everything, she has remained the most sweet, loving, and gentle soul. Though tiny, her love is immense.
Daley needs a foster to help her recover in a quiet space where she can rest. I promise she’ll bounce back and shower you with all the kisses and love you could imagine. Please help share her story. While she’s smaller than she looks in the video, her love is boundless.
What an incredibly sweet girl! Even with the pain, she hobbled across the exam room and wanted to be constantly petted and loved. Animals are simply amazing. Through fear and pain, they still find a reason to smile, the ability to trust, and never shy away from love.
Daley made her trip to us today and did amazing. Thanks to our freedom drivers who are always willing to do the drives and get our pups to us safely. Daley will get some good pain meds now, and she will then have her surgery to amputate the leg and shoulder tomorrow morning.
New update on our sweet girl Daley.
This poor sweet soul. How long had she been alone and hurt? How long had she been wandering the streets just trying to stay alive with a wound so awful it fits right in with a horror movie. I wish she could talk to get to the answers as to what she has gone through—but sometimes I think if they could talk, we wouldn’t be able to handle what they have to say. Animals are stronger than many—her eyes and wound say enough—and now we must help.
Today she is stable.
Shelters are closed for the day and this poor pup is waiting for a hero.
It never fails—as soon as everyone leaves for the night, an emergency comes in. That’s how emergencies seem to work.
The note came over and how can anyone walk past this poor girl? She needs help. And fast.
We are going to do all we can to help her. There is no question—she needs us. You can see by that one and only photo. The pain is written in her face. The fear and confusion of what comes next. The agony she is probably facing as she lays alone in a shelter tonight. Most likely hit by a car and then running while dragging that mutilated leg for help.
Our SWEET Daley is now being seen. And when I say sweet—she is! We have one of our amazing volunteers take her directly to the emergency vet. (Thank you Debbie) and she is safe. But not out of the woods. Her leg is terrible.
She will be getting treatment and checked into the clinic. We will continue to update and monitor her situation. The pictures are horrific. This poor soul!! Who and what happened?! Only she knows the scary truth. Now it’s our turn to step in and help her.
Thank you to all for the prayers, shares, and concerns—we are en route to pick this poor sweet soul up now.
As soon as we learn more about her injuries, we will let you know. For now, continue the prayers. That leg is mangled and she is in pain. We will need support through funding her surgery too. She will definitely need a surgery consult, X-rays, and possibly an amputation given the state of that leg. And that’s just the start—along with therapy, pain meds, and continued antibiotics.
We are rushing to pick her up now to get her to a vet!!! Hang in there, beautiful. Our love is surrounding you!
