What you didn’t see today behind the scenes were the endless hours of debate, questioning, and challenging—pushing each other to find the best way forward for Mikhal. Every single thought, emotion, tear, and comment was driven by the deepest love. We may not always agree, but we’re not meant to. We’re meant to push ourselves every day to be better than we were yesterday and to build a better tomorrow for all of God’s animals and for each other.
Have we done what’s best for Mikhal? Only God knows. But God knows our hearts and guides us. Sometimes we take the wrong path. Sometimes we follow our own hearts. Sometimes we hold on to hope longer than we should. But no matter what happens, we never doubt our why.
Our why is for Mikhal. Our why is to fight, to create better standards for shelters, to be a voice for the voiceless, the abused, and the neglected.
Right or wrong in this decision, I want to thank everyone—not only our med team but our incredible supporters, team members, and every single person who challenges the way things are. You challenge each of us to believe that life is worth fighting for, for every soul. And that we have the power to change things for those who can’t speak up.
But most importantly, we want to thank God for giving us this platform—to share the debate, to share the journey, to share the decisions and our lives with you who believe that all souls matter and are worth fighting for. Without God, nothing is possible. With God, well, impossible doesn’t exist. Faith with guarantees isn’t faith, and faith doesn’t make it easy… it makes it possible.
Mikhal may not make it, but he is deeply and desperately loved by thousands. And in that love, there is beauty. Where there is hope, there is life. No matter what, I will always hold on to hope.
God bless you all for your faith in us on this incredible journey and for being willing to walk beside us on it. One single step at a time. This is also only possible when we do it together.
The Little Red Barn will always be a bright light in a dark storm, calm surrounded by craziness. It truly is heaven on earth here for the dogs, cats, and people who come through this little place.
