UPDATE 6:15 PM 9-7
Good night, sweet boy. We love you with all our hearts. Rest is healing, so please rest. Know you are loved. God is by your side, and you have an army of prayer warriors behind you.
As a recap, today, Mikhal stood on his own to pee and even noticed a squirrel, reminding us that he’s starting to remember what it feels like to be a dog again. His catheter was removed, and while he’s still losing weight, his eyes are bright, and his skin is improving. He’s set to go home to Julie’s on Monday, but he still has a long road of recovery ahead. No matter what the future holds, one thing is certain: it will be filled with love.
For three days, people at Wichita Animal Shelter and Kansas Humane Society—and even a vet from KHS—walked past his kennel, overlooked him, and left him suffering to die in a kill shelter. They said he “looked stable.”
Now, one week later, he has the world praying for him and every single one of us fighting for him to live right alongside him. And he’s fighting with us.
Isn’t it amazing what love can do?
