We will always choose love.

Right now, there is no new update on Mikhal, which is good news after a surgery like he had. He is slowly being fed via feeding tube small amounts every 4 hours and under 24-hour constant care and watch. ⏰ Every moment is critical, every prayer is vital, and at any second, everything could change—but it hasn’t. He’s still here. He’s resting peacefully with good pain management, and sleep is healing.

There is so much on my heart I want to share, so much to be grateful for, and so much in my heart that I don’t know how to put into words. Anger, hurt, sadness for the pain this innocent soul has suffered and all the nameless, faceless dogs and cats killed at Wichita Animal Shelter every single day we don’t even know of since we aren’t allowed in unless we sign an agreement by Kansas Humane Society that we will not call them or WAS. Kill shelter or say anything publicly derogatory about either. My heart is too weary to go into that sad battle we keep fighting and haven’t won, but we will never give up.

But even with the heaviest of heart for those lost and Mikhal suffering, the fact that every single one of you following gave—your love and support—who believed and gave us the opportunity to say yes to a dog like Mikhal. ❤️ To say yes to faith. To say yes, even in the worst possible circumstances of human cruelty, we still believe that God is so good He will help us find a way. That if we only believe in how good He is and how powerful He is, and we give Him the opportunity to let His goodness shine, to let Him do what only He knows how to do, not us… then maybe JUST maybe, against all human odds, Mikhal would find a way to survive.

Every single one of us put our faith and trust in something so great that only God could do… and here we are, just surviving last night, 3 days suffering, overlooked, and neglected in a shelter that is supposed to care for animals. He is still here. That in and of itself is a miracle.

And the most beautiful, crazy, and truly terrifying part of that is that just by taking that leap of faith, God calls us to do bigger, to do more, to do better, to strive to make each day better than it was yesterday—to build a better tomorrow and to never ever give up that change IS possible and IS coming. ✨ That is our calling. Each and every one of us has a unique and special calling. It is up to us to decide that these souls deserve more, that every soul deserves love and the neglect and abuse that animals are enduring at shelters is NOT ok. Kansas Humane Society is paid by the city of Wichita $70,000 a year to care for their animals. If they didn’t have the resources to do a simple x-ray the night he arrived, why was he left in a kennel to suffer 3 days? ️ Why were rescues not notified to help on Friday, Saturday, or even Sunday? Why?

It’s one thing for an organization to say they care but look at their actions. Look at their shelter. Two buildings side by side. WAS and KHS. One filled with death. The other right next to it pretending to be filled with light by ignoring the darkness they help foster. They do nothing to publicly promote the animals they choose not to save, and they shame and block out other rescues BEGGING to help. If a single volunteer or other rescue was in there this weekend, there is no way Mikhal would have been left like that. Or Dwight. Look back at his story. Look at the beliefs and practices of all parties in BOTH good times and bad.

We walk every single moment of this journey in faith, even in the toughest times, knowing that even though we don’t know how, even though we don’t know when or where God is guiding us. ️

God calls us every day to search inside our soul and ask how we can give more, love more, and push ourselves beyond any limits we place upon ourselves because God is limitless. He has such big dreams for this world, and we have to dream with Him. That is the only way this world will ever change—is when we walk side by side with God.

I know it’s scary to speak up. Trust me, I’m not a fighter. But I’ll fight for those to the core of my soul if there is no one fighting for them. These animals need us not only to use our voice but to find it.

We have to speak up for all the other Mikhals out there. ️ Look back at our posts on Dwight. It was the same negligence and unnecessary suffering by KHS and Wichita Animal Shelter that is run by the police. These are your tax dollars, citizens of Wichita. The time for change is now. ⏳

We will be marching in City Hall and placing 1500 collars at the footsteps of the building October 18th at 2 pm. The 1500 lives are all the dogs and cats killed in just 2024 alone since rescues have been forced out. This abuse has to stop. The time for change is now. Call your city council members. Email them. You are their only voice. Silence leaves their unmarked graves forgotten. They deserve to be remembered.

We will walk side by side. Hand in hand with Beauties and Beasts, Inc. And all citizens are welcome. We are also accepting donations for collars or used collars.

I beg you. Write an email. Place a call. But no matter what, write, call, or speak with love. Love begets love. ❤️ Hate begets hate. We will always choose love. ✨
